Shooting at Tropicana Restaurant Leaves Manager Dead

Another shooting in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize has left one man dead in what appears to be an execution-style homicide given the reports from the San Pedro Police. The incident took place around 9:30p.m. at Tropicana Restaurant and Bar located on Coconut Drive south of San Pedro Town. The restaurant manager Lamont Edward Lipka has been reported as victim of the crime.

On Sunday, May 13, 2018, Police reports indicate that they visited Tropicana Restaurant acting on information received of someone being shot. They encountered the lifeless body of Lipka lying face down in a pool of blood inside the restaurant. Six apparent gunshot injuries were observed on the face, one to the right side of neck and to the back of the neck.

Lipka was a 49-year-old Texas U.S. National residing on Ambergris Caye and business manager of Tropicana Restaurant. He resided at the same address, upstairs of the restaurant.

Initial investigation reveal that about 9:20p.m. Lamont Edward Lipka was standing inside the restaurant at the cash register with his back facing the side door when a dark brown complexion male person approached him and fired two shots. It is reported that Lamont fell to the floor at which time the male person then fired five more shot at his face and then ran unto Coconut Drive, escaping in a southern direction.

The dark brown male is being describe of having a medium built, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and wearing a black cap and shirt at the time of the shooting. Police continue their investigation.
