Three Positive H1N1 Cases in the Corozal District

Belmopan. July 27, 2018. The Ministry of Health can, at this time, confirm three positive cases of HINI Influenza in the Corozal District.

The cases include two males who have recent travel history to Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, while the third is a pregnant female who resides in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The positive confirmations were received this afternoon from our Central Medical Lab in Belize City. The Ministry has activated its Northern Regional and National Surveillance Teams to immediately start managing these cases and to plan next steps forward. Initial visits and rounds with frontline personnel also concluded earlier in the week.

The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor the situation and advise as new cases may arise.
