British national and nature documentary filmmaker, Richard Foster, 74, has been reported missing as of today, Tuesday, August 2, 2018. His family is concerned after his wife could not make contact with him from the United States where she is currently staying.
According to Police reports, Glen McFadzean of La Democracia village told police that this morning, Foster’s wife called him and asked him to check on Richard since he has been trying to call him but to no avail. McFadzean went to Foster’s home at mile 28 ½ George Price highway and found it open and ransacked.
McFadzean told Police that he noticed that Foster was not at home and neither was his Toyota Hilux. Also missing from the home were two guns, a Smith and Wesson .9mm pistol and a pump 12 Mossberg shotgun.
Foster is of a Clear complexion, slim built about 5ft 11inch in height, curly black greying hair, thin lips, and sharp nose. Foster uses eyeglasses and a blue hearing aid.
Carol and Richard Foster own and operate the Savanna Guest House which is part of a natural history filming base and studio. Many documentaries for Natural Geographic TV and BBC have been made at the guesthouse/studio, including parts of the Planet Earth and Life series, in their twenty eight year career. Richard and Carol have ,so far, won two Emmys and a numerous other awards for their work in Belize and World Wide. The Belize Zoo started there from an animal collection used in filming in the eighties. The couple is still making films but have now turned their efforts to conservation work, making complete films in house, on various issues within the country. However they still do sequence work for Network T.V. in the USA and UK.
The public is asked to contact the nearest police station if they have any information about Foster’s whereabouts. If seen kindly call 911/922/207-2222 or any police station countrywide.
UPDATE 9:00p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7: Ambergris Today can confirm that the body of Ricard Foster has been discovered in the Rivera Area of Belmopan this evening. We express our deepest condolences to Carol Foster and family. May he Rest in Peace.
