On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Hon. Pablo Marin, Minister of Health received another generous donation from the Republic of China (Taiwan) for additional Wellness Parks. $30,000 was officially handed over to the Minister of Health for Wellness Parks to be created in the Capital City of Belmopan and San Ignacio Town.
Wellness parks create healthy communities and play a fundamental role in enhancing the physical environments in which we live in. It provides good health for people of all abilities, ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and ethnicities. It helps reduce obesity and incidence of chronic disease by providing opportunities to increase rigorous physical activity in a variety of forms. Wellness parks provide a connection to nature which studies demonstrate relieves stress levels, tightens interpersonal relationships, and improves mental health. It fosters overall wellness and healthful habits, such as becoming tobacco-free and engaging in enrichment opportunities that add balance to life.
