San Pedro High School had the honors of hosting a diplomatic group of Ministers of the Central American Integration System (SICA) on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
The Central American Integration System (SICA) is an integration process established under the Protocol of Tegucigalpa in 1991. It is comprised of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panamá and so the Ministers of Education and Culture of each country were in San Pedro as part of their 48th Meeting of Ministers of Education and Culture of CECC/SICA.
The Ministers itinerary of events included a visit to San Pedro’s only secondary level institution, San Pedro High School. In a short yet meaningful event, SICA ministers were escorted to the event by class presidents of SPHS. After formal introductions students of SPHS delighted the audience with the Belizean National Anthem played with recorder/flute and guitars.
Welcome address was delivered by Chairlady Martha Guerrero after which Former Principal and school founder, Mr. Angel Nunez had the honors of addressing the minister and explain a brief history of the school and its many accomplishments. Ministers were delighted with cultural dance presentations, modern dances as well as gifts of appreciation.
