Belize Receives $4Mil US Grant from The Republic of China Taiwan

Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Continues to Contribute to the Infrastructure Development of Belize – Belmopan. November 26, 2018. Today in Belize City, His Excellency Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, presented a bilateral cooperation grant to the Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Belize. The grant is in the sum of US$4 million.

The grant is for the year 2018 under the Bilateral Cooperation Program between the two countries. The purpose of the grant is to assist the overall development of Belize, particularly in the development of transportation infrastructure.

The funds will cover a portion of the expenditures on key infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of the Northern Highway from Belize City to Haulover Bridge, rehabilitation of the Hummingbird Highway, and upgrading of streets and drains in Southside of Belize City.
