San Pedro Police are investigating the death of one of their own. At about 2:00 a.m. this morning police officer identified as Corporal Alfonso Guy was found in his room in the police barracks in the San Juan area with gunshot wounds to the back of his head and his abdomen.
According to reports Cpl. Guy was taken for medical treatment at the Dr. Otto Polyclinic and was then airlifted to Belize City for further medical treatment. Cpl. Guy later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Police investigations have revealed that at around 12:30am, 51 year-old, Corporal Alfonso Guy was in his room in the San Juan Area with a male friend. That friend was allegedly playing with Guy’s Police issued weapon when it went off, hitting Guy in the head and abdomen.
