Cancer is a disease that has been plaguing many islanders and the latest victim of this disease is Miss San Pedro Chelsea Muñoz. At just 20 years of age, Chelsea is currently battling Hodgkins Lymphoma and the community of San Pedro is coming together to help her in covering medical bills.

Chelsea Munoz is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing at the University of Belize. In late November, Chelsea went for a doctor’s check-up in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, regarding a lymph node on her neck and underwent surgery on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. The tumor was sent for testing and Chelsea was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Her treatment will include 12 sessions of chemotherapy for a period of six months where she travels every two weeks to Merida.

“The doctosr will be doing C.T scans every two months to see if the chemotherapy is working and the tumors are decreasing since it was also located in my lungs,” commented Chelsea to Ambergris Today.

The crossfit community is coming together to help support Chelsea Muñoz and they are organizing a raise fund event to take place on Sunday, February 10, 2019 – Row for the Crown Marathon.  Anyone interested in taking part in this event can contact Marisa Guerrero at 501-600-8908.
