SPHS Life Skills Class – Work Interview Experience

Life Skills teacher Mrs. Angie Ellis has been working arduously in preparing our youth for the future with useful life skills that that they will be able to carry on for life. The first form students of San Pedro High School have learnt interesting topics such as laundry/washing, cooking and baking, sewing and ironing. Basic home essentials to be able to survive on their own once they go study abroad and carry on for life.

This time around students were asked to prepare for job interviews for when they leave school and are out in the real world. Students were given a job they were to apply for and had to prepare letters of applications and interviewers were asked to come in and question them as if it were the real deal.

Job vacancies included bank tellers, receptionists, tour guides, dive masters, flight attendants, chefs and waiters to name a few. Students were asked to dress accordingly for an interview and they all did a good job despite the nerves of being questioned by a total stranger. Interviewers included Kristina Romero, Mariela Archer, Kate Stahlman, Ivette Ramírez, Bob Skrentner and Sofia Munoz.

It was an eye opener for the students as they experienced a little of what is waiting for them in the future. We hope that the students take all this preparation that this life skills class has to offer them.
