For the first time at San Pedro Adult Continuing Education (SPACE) in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, a mother and daughter team received their Associate’s Degree from the tertiary education institution during the Graduation and Commencement Exercises that took place on Sunday, June 9, 2019. They were among seventeen students completing their Sixth Form studies under the distinguished patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Gustavo Ellis, Dean of San Pedro Junior College.
Salutatorian for the graduating class was Zair Cardenez while the Valedictorian for this year’s ceremony was Jilsia Nahima Blanco. The annual report was rendered by Mr. Roberto Canche, Iterim Director 2018-2019 while Mr. Paul Kelly was on study leave. Delivering the Vote of Thanks was Yanairy Escalante who invited her mother Sandra Yamileth Escalante up to the stage to present tokens of appreciation the staff of SPACE. This was the historic graduation of mother and daughter who both kept reminding themselves that it never too late get an education.

A very wonderful address was given by teacher at San Pedro High and SPACE. Miss Rashela Elliott, who as guest speaker, was asked by the students to speak long and so she did. She did go on for about half an hour, but amazingly maintained a perfect attention of everyone who interrupted with countless applause.
Ambergris Today salutes SPACE, its graduates and administration and wishes them well as they continue to provide adult education in the community of San Pedro.
