Therapeutic Strategies for Working with Children with Autism & Hearing Loss Workshop

The Inspiration Center in collaboration with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and the Pan American Health Organization PAHO/WHO once again sponsored a three day training of trainers’ workshop for teachers, rehabilitation field officers and health care workers on “Therapeutic Strategies for Working with Children with Autism & Hearing Loss.” The training was held from July 2-4, 2019 at NaRCIE conference room on Freetown Road in Belize City.

Principals, teachers, education officers, rehabilitation field officers and members of The Inspiration Center clinic team were key participants of this workshop. The training focused primarily on Autism and hearing loss. The topics that were discussed over the three day period includes the following: 1. Overview of Hearing Loss: Definitions, Causes and Types 2. Audiological Management and Early Intervention of Hearing Loss 3. Classroom Strategies for Children with Hearing Loss 4. Autism Overview: Characteristics and Diagnostic Criteria 5. Sensory Integration Techniques for Children with Autism.

The Inspiration Center continues towards expanding its efforts in gaining the proper expertise and knowledge in its aim to offer low-cost, comprehensive therapy and medical services to children with disabilities (birth to 16 years old) in Belize.
