Belize Red Cross Launches Monetary Appeal for Hurricane Dorian Victims

Belize Red Cross Launches Monetary Appeal to help Persons affected by the Catastrophic Hurricane Dorian

The Belize Red Cross Society (“BRC”) is in solidarity with our Caribbean brothers and sisters in the islands of the Bahamas. Since Sunday, September 1st, the northern islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama have been catastrophically impacted by Hurricane Dorian, the strongest and most sustained Category 5 hurricane ever to be recorded in the region.

Sune Bulow, Head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Emergency Operation Centre in Geneva, said:

“We don’t yet have a complete picture of what has happened. But it is clear that Hurricane Dorian has had a catastrophic impact. We anticipate extensive shelter needs, alongside the need for short-term economic support, as well as for clean water and health assistance.”

The BRC announces the launching of Hurricane Dorian Red Cross Appeal in Belize. Funds will be sent to the Bahamas Red Cross in Nassau for the purpose of assisting and meeting those most in distress. Cash donations can be deposited to the Belize Red Cross appeal accounts at any branch of the following commercial banks throughout the country:

Heritage Bank Ltd. – A/C # 1082665
The Belize Bank Ltd. – A/C # 135648010120001
Scotia Bank Belize – A/C # 9133246
Atlantic Bank Ltd. – A/C # 210-657-243

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has always proven to be steadfast supporters of humanitarian needs and has supported Belize whenever a crisis arises. We urge Belizeans to reciprocate by coming to the need of our Caribbean brothers and sisters in their time of dire need.

Please, join the Belize Red Cross Society in this great humanitarian effort to relieve human suffering by giving generously.

As more assessments are carried out, further appeals may be launched in the coming days.
