UK/Belize Commonwealth Litter Program's Week Launched with Beach Clean Up

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, the UK/Belize Commonwealth Litter Programme’s Week of activities was launched with a beach clean-up at Belizean Beach.

The Department Of Environment would like to thank Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office), British High Commissioner Claire Evans, CEO Dr. Percival Cho, Chief Environmental Officer Mr. Martin Alegria, Belize High School Belize Audubon Society Belize Coast Guard Cefas – Commonwealth Litter Programme and the Belize Defense Force Cadets for participating in the beach clean-up.

A special Thanks to everyone who came joined in on the clean up and learn more about tackling marine litter. Participants were asked to bring their own water bottles and refusing to purchase single-use cups and plates so as to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle.
