Belize Delegates Head To Costa Rica For The U-13 CODICADER Games 2019

From Wednesday, October 16 to Sunday, October 20, Costa Rica will host the CODICADER Games (Elementary School Level). A delegation of 59 people will travel from Belize to compete in the disciplines of mini-volleyball, kids athletics, and football 7.

The National Stadium will host kids athletics, mini-volleyball will be played at the San Francisco de Dos Ríos Sports Center, and football 7 will be played at the Ernesto Rohrmoser de Pavas Stadium.

Young athletes from all seven Central American countries will participate in chess, kids athletics, mini-basketball, football 7, artistic gymnastics, swimming, table tennis and mini-volleyball. These conventional disciplines will take place, as well as athletics and inclusive swimming, which are disciplines reserved for students with disabilities.

Visiting delegations will arrive in Costa Rica on Tuesday, October 15. Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and Panama will arrive by air and Honduras and Nicaragua will arrive by land.

The teams from Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama will be staying at the Best Western Irazú Hotel; Honduras and Costa Rica will be at Barceló San José and Guatemala will be located at Radisson.

The sporting activities will begin on Wednesday morning, October 16, and the opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. in the National Gymnasium.

The closing is scheduled for Sunday October 20, at approximately 4 p.m. in the BN Arena, after the mini-basketball finals are finished.

In addition to the sporting event, training will be provided for judges, referees and coaches, in the Federations Pavilion of the National Stadium, on issues of arbitration, attention to suicide and attention to bullying/harassment. A recreational outing is also scheduled for the students.

The Games are convened by the Council of the Central American Sports and Recreation (CODICADER), a regional entity composed of national sports ministries in the seven countries of the region.

Delegations from Belize (59 people), Guatemala (253), El Salvador (244), Honduras (213), Nicaragua (203), Costa Rica (213) and Panama (186) will attend the event for a total of 1371 participants.
