San Pedro Town Council Says Restrictions for Ambergris Caye Remain the Same

The San Pedro Town Council’s Press Release states that the regulations that were made on its  previous Press Release from March 25, 2020 by Mayor Daniel Guerrero, the San Pedro Town Council, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. and the San Pedro’s EOC committee on the advice from the Ministry of Health, in order to accommodate the needs of the residents STILL REMAIN IN ORDER. These are in addition to the regulations set by the Goverment of Belize for the State of Emergency for the Enitre Country.

Wednesday, April 1, 2020 – On Tuesday March 31st, 2020, the Prime Minister of Belize, Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow and the Leader of the Opposition held a press conference on update of the COVID-19 status of Belize and its measurements to ensure the safety of all the citizens of the country. In the press conference, the Prime Minister, announced a State of Emergency for the entire country.

The following regulations will be enforced according to the Country’s State of Emergency:

1. Country State of Emergency goes into effect Thursday at 12:00 a.m.
2. A curfew will be implemented from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Everything MUST be closed. No one will be allowed to be on the streets.
3. No loitering, wandering, assembling or moving at any public place or any public roads.
4. If you are caught, police will stop and you will be questioned, if you lack a proper justification, you can be arrested.
5. Citizens are only allowed to move during the day from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to purchase essential needs, to get medical attention or if you are an essential worker.
6. Essential workers who can work during curfew and daytime hours are: Government workers, medical, public utilities, social workers, sanitation workers, productive sector, Statutory Bodies, State-run bodies).
7. All ports of entries remain closed; except for Cargo.
8. Any Belizean that enters the country during this time will be placed at a quarantine center for the time indicated by the doctors at their own expense.

The regulations that were made on our previous Press Release from March 25, 2020 by Mayor Daniel Guerrero, the San Pedro Town Council, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. and the San Pedro’s EOC committee on the advice from the Ministry of Health, in order to accommodate the needs of the residents STILL REMAIN IN ORDER:

Stores that sell essential and basic necessities will be allowed to operate from 7:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m.

1. Bakeries and Tortilla factories will be allowed to operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
2. Pharmacies will be allowed to operate from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
3. Fuel and Butane Gas Companies will be allowed to operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
4. Bowen and Bowen may resume with its delivery of SODAS and WATER ONLY.
5. Banks will be allowed to operate from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
6. Hardwares will be allowed to operate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
7. Restaurants will only be allowed to operate by DELIVERY SERVICE ONLY.

• Each establishment MUST mark spaces, 6 feet apart from each other, for customers waiting.
  Customers inside the establishment should be strictly limited to no more than 10 persons.
  Check-out lines MUST also be distanced, 6 feet apart from each customer.
  ALL establishments MUST have a hand washing station for customers.
  Customers MUST wash their hands before entering or making any purchases.
  Hand sanitizer MUST be available at every store, especially at check-out.
  Stores are asked to offer DELIVERY SERVICES of goods; however, curb side pick-ups will be permitted temporarily.

The following operations are STILL NOT ALLOWED and PROHIBITED: delis, bars, construction and fishing, until further notice. Restrictions will be re-visited on Monday, April 6, 2020.

Anyone violating these regulations will be arrested. The sale of alcohol is STRICTLY PROHIBITED during this time; this will result in the revoking of the business’ liquor license and trade license. The Belize Coast Guard will be monitoring our waters for any violators, if caught, consequences may lead to arrest and/or the termination of your captain’s license. Mayor Daniel Guerrero, the San Pedro Town Council and the Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. would like to emphasize that these considerations are for BASIC NECESSITIES ONLY. Do not use this as an excuse to wander. Please adhere to the curfew: 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., DO NOT be out between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Lastly, we encourage everyone to please stay home and continue to practice social distancing and good hygiene. Social distancing and isolation prevent the virus from spreading. Always remember to wash your hands regularly. Keep your household clean. COMUNICADO DE PRENSA: PARA PUBLICACIÓN INMEDIATA
Miércoles 1 de abril de 2020 – El martes 31 de marzo de 2020, el Primer Ministro de Belice, Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow y el líder de la oposición, el Hon. John Briceño, realizó una conferencia de prensa sobre la actualización del estado COVID-19 de Belice y sus medidas para garantizar la seguridad de todos los ciudadanos del país. En la conferencia de prensa, el Primer Ministro anunció un estado de emergencia para todo el país.

Las siguientes regulaciones se aplicarán de acuerdo con el estado de emergencia del país:

1. El estado de emergencia del país entra en vigencia el jueves a las 12:00 a.m.
2. Se implementará un toque de queda a partir de las 8:00 p.m. a las 5:00 a.m. Todo DEBE estar cerrado. Nadie podrá estar en las calles.
3. No merodear, deambular, reunirse o moverse en ningún lugar público o en cualquier vía pública.
4. Si te atrapan, la policía se detendrá y te interrogarán; si no tienes una justificación adecuada, puedes ser arrestado.
5. Los ciudadanos solo pueden moverse durante el día de 5:00 a.m. a 8:00 p.m. para comprar necesidades esenciales, para obtener atención médica o si usted es un trabajador esencial.
6. Los trabajadores esenciales que pueden trabajar durante el toque de queda y durante el día son: trabajadores gubernamentales, médicos, servicios públicos, trabajadores sociales, trabajadores de saneamiento, sector productivo, organismos estatutarios, organismos estatales).
7. Todos los puertos de entrada permanecen cerrados; a excepción de la carga.
8. Cualquier beliceño que ingrese al país durante este tiempo será colocado en un centro de cuarentena por el tiempo indicado por los médicos a su cargo.

Las regulaciones que se hicieron en nuestro comunicado de prensa anterior del 25 de marzo de 2020 por el alcalde Daniel Guerrero, el Ayuntamiento de San Pedro, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr. y el comité EOC de San Pedro con el asesoramiento del Ministerio de Salud, con el fin de satisfacer las necesidades de los residentes TODAVÍA SIGUEN ORDENANDO:

1. Las tiendas que venden artículos esenciales y básicos podrán operar de 7:00 a.m. a 10:00 a.m.
2. Las fábricas de panaderías y tortillas podrán operar de 6:00 a.m. a 10:00 a.m.
3. Las farmacias podrán operar de 8:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m.
4. Las compañías de combustible y gas butano podrán operar de 8:00 a.m. a 12 del mediodía.
5. Bowen y Bowen pueden reanudar con la entrega de SODAS y AGUA SOLAMENTE.
6. Los bancos podrán operar de 8 a.m. a 12:00 mediodía.
7. Las ferreterías podrán operar de 7:00 a.m. a 10:00 a.m.
8. Los restaurantes podrán operar por SERVICIO DE ENTREGA SOLAMENTE.

• Cada establecimiento DEBE marcar espacios, a 6 pies de distancia entre sí, para que los clientes esperen.
• Los clientes dentro del establecimiento deben estar estrictamente limitados, no más de diez.
• Las líneas de salida también DEBEN estar distanciadas, a 6 pies de distancia de cada cliente.
• TODOS los establecimientos DEBEN tener una estación de lavado de manos para los clientes.
• Los clientes DEBEN lavarse las manos antes de ingresar o realizar cualquier compra.
• El desinfectante para manos DEBE estar disponible en todas las tiendas, especialmente al momento de pagar.
• Se pide a las tiendas que ofrezcan SERVICIOS DE ENTREGA de bienes; sin embargo, se permitirán recogidas en el establecimiento temporalmente.

Las siguientes operaciones TODAVÍA NO ESTÁN PERMITIDAS y siguen PROHIBIDAS: delis, bares, construcción y pesca, hasta nuevo aviso. Las restricciones se volverán a visitar el lunes 6 de abril de 2020.

Cualquiera que viole estas regulaciones será arrestado. La venta de alcohol está ESTRICTAMENTE PROHIBIDA durante este tiempo; esto dará como resultado la revocación de la licencia de licor y la licencia comercial de la empresa. La Guardia Costera de Belice vigilará nuestras aguas en busca de infractores, si se detectan, las consecuencias pueden conducir a la detención y / o la terminación de la licencia de su capitán.

El alcalde Daniel Guerrero, el Ayuntamiento de San Pedro y el Excmo. Manuel Heredia Jr. quisiera enfatizar que estas consideraciones son SOLO PARA NECESIDADES BÁSICAS. No uses esto como una excusa para pasear. Cumpla con el toque de queda: 5:00 a.m. a 8:00 p.m., NO salga entre las 8:00 p.m. y a las 5:00 a.m.

Por último, alentamos a todos a quedarse en casa y seguir practicando el distanciamiento social y la buena higiene. El distanciamiento social y el aislamiento impiden la propagación del virus. Siempre recuerde lavarse las manos regularmente. Mantenga su hogar limpio.
