– Press Release – July 17th, 2020 – Belize Specialist Clinic/Belize Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Center Limited would like to take this opportunity to again offer our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Pastor Jose Cal. We recognize that during these moments of such loss, some grieve differently than others and we do not aim to judge the reactions of those most affected.
We would like to clarify misstatements that were made against our medical institution via shared social media postings that several media houses made. It is most unfortunate that some of the family members have taken such a negative stance against us when our team put forth the utmost and sincerest efforts to save their loved one’s life. We understand it comes from a painful place, but such negative remarks and false accusations have in turn caused irreparable damage to our professional reputation.
Although we would have hoped the media houses that posted the misleading insinuations and blatantly incorrect statements would have consulted with us to gain better clarity on the matter before wantonly posting, we are also aware that sensationalizing a story creates more momentum than adherence to journalistic integrity.
We at Belize Specialist Clinic/Belize Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Center Limited pride ourselves in offering the highest quality procedures and exceptional after care. However, whenever conducting any surgical procedure, they are not without risk and those risks are often compounded when a patient arrives with terminal underlying aliments.
Without going into detail, to respect the patient’s confidentiality, it is safe to say he arrived with a history of prior medical issues. Our team of expert doctors tried their utmost to help the patient. Unfortunately, despite all efforts to save the patient it proved to be out of their hands. We can assure the public that all procedures conducted at our clinic meet the highest international standards.
Furthermore, we sincerely and adamantly deny any wrongdoing that would have caused the patient’s passing. Our reputation and track record are significant, and we do not take for granted the trust that people have placed in us. We respectfully ask that all who have been involved in propagating this erroneous information wait and appropriately cease and desist after confirming that the autopsy report will absolutely find no wrongdoing.
Again, we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathies for the family and loved ones, we truly wish more could have been done. Those in the medical profession are charged with defeating death often and though they do all they can, it is sometimes not enough. These unfortunate times when we are defeated take a profound toll on everyone involved, but we stand by our oath and continue performing our duty to save as many lives as we can.
