The San Pedro Traffic Department was closed on Thursday, April 8, 2021, as it went under investigation under the Police Department after reports indicated that a number of residents were conned in a well-put together scam carried out by former and current members of the public department.
The scam involves traffic stickers that were paid for and received, but are reportedly fake. It is understood that several island residents were raided by Police where evidence to suggest that the scam was ongoing for some time was discovered. Former traffic wardens and a technician within the department seem to be involved. The Traffic Department reopened today, Friday, April 9, 2021, as investigations continue into the case.
