Contributed by Belize Hotel Association – Bringing the industry back is no small feat, but small steps build to long strides. The BHA office has been working with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to sensitize and encourage people to get vaccinated. Earlier this month, the Belize Hotel Association assisted in the coordination of the first round of vaccinations for tourism workers at the Best Western Biltmore and Plaza. We then took to Turneffe Atoll, where three-member properties were visited for the administration of the vaccine.
A total of eight member properties and 400 hospitality personnel have received their first vaccine with our assistance thus far. We’ve also launched the BHA Travel Ambassador campaign in partnership with Miss Belize Universe, Ms. Iris Salguero.
She debuted our collaboration in the Cayo district, visiting a few of our hotel members like Ka’ana, San Igancio Hotel Resort, and The Lodge at Chaa Creek, all the while promoting safe travel. Whist she prepares for the Miss Universe Pageant in Hollywood Florida, she had some time to spare to also visit a few members of Ambergris Caye. Follow her Instagram and Facebook accounts to join her on her BHA travels so far. She will continue her travels upon her return.
We started membership drives in February, beginning in Caye Caulker and San Pedro. The most recent drive took us to the San Ignacio area and, we’re happy to have signed a total of eight new members as a result! The Belize Hotel Association continues to work for the sustainable growth of our industry and to motivate our partners to work together.
