On Friday, July 9, 2021, the Hol Chan Marine Reserve of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, conducted an official vessel launch and tribute commemorating the life of their friend and colleague Killian James Azueta.
“He loved the ocean, his daughter, his family, his friend and community. It is only right that we allow him to keep on sailing!” said the Hot Chan Marine Reserve in a statement.
Present at the shot but immensely meaningful ceremony, along with Killian’s family, were Mayor Gualberto “Wally” Nunez, Deputy Mayor Dianeli Aranda of the San Pedro Town Council, and Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation.
“On behalf of my family and myself I would like to thank the Honorable Andre Perez, Minister of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation and especially the Management and Staff of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve for the great honor bestowed on my son by launching this vessel in his memory and for the wonderful ceremony to celebrate his life!
