El Dia de la Raza Added to Belize Holidays

The Government of Belize announced the approved list of Public and Bank Holidays for the upcoming year 2022, adding a holiday that was missing from this year’s calendar. The new entry on the list is El Día de la Raza (Day of Race/Race Day). This day, which will be celebrated on October 10 in lieu of Wednesday, October 12, celebrates the heritage, colonization, and cultural diversity of Latin America.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, has released the list of holidays which are specified in the First and Second Schedules to the Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011. Public and bank holidays will be observed on the listed days during the year 2022 in accordance with section 3 of that Act.

Among the days is the second annual celebration of George Price Day, which saw its first observance this year on January 15. Other holidays on the list include:
