It was unfortunate that the birth of Triple R (Rickilee Response & Rescue) came about due to the death of a tourist vacationing on Ambergris Caye. It has now been three and half years since the tragic accident, but the island has been blessed with the invaluable emergency services of Triple R. The services started as a water emergency response that quickly filled the need for all emergencies on the island. The most beautiful part of the service is that it is operated strictly by volunteers and supported by local businesses and patrons who love our island home.
Looking at their October report, Triple R mentioned that they responded to 41 emergencies during that month alone. Since May, just a six-month period, RRR has responded to 201 emergencies on land. That does not include water emergencies.
“Our island heavily relies on the volunteers of RRR. Yes every single person on our team is a volunteer!” posted RRR on a recent Facebook post. “Help us continue to respond. We rely 100% on donations. We are super blessed to have a few monthly donors, some on reoccurring Paypal donations and one amazing person who has committed to donating $500 worth of supplies monthly.
