Belize Champs at Pok ta Pok World Championship Held in Yucatan

The Belize Maya ballgame team Ek’ Balam Poktapok will return to the country as champions once again, after being victorious at the Pok Ta Pok World Championship games held in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico last week. This is the team’s third championship, previously winning the Maya ballgame championship in 2017 and 2019.

The team defended its championship title against teams from Panama, Mexico and Guatemala during the games that were held from December 1 to December 4, 2021. This cup was made in order to preserve and reactivate the practice of this discipline, in the countries that make up the Mayan world. The organizing committee announced that the first Pok Ta Pok Women’s World Cup will soon take place in 2023.
