Island Chefs Get Creative During Lobster Fest

San Pedro’s Lobster Fest may be over but that does not mean no more lobster on your dinner plates. The festival only kicked off lobster season in Belize that runs from July 2022 to February 2023, giving everyone a glimpse of the culinary magic that happens when lobster is around. Lobster Fest in San Pedro is unique to the other lobster festivals as chefs push themselves to create new and unique dishes to stimulate our tastebuds.

This year’s top dish came from Black and White Restaurant that created a Lobster Hudut. It included lobster cooked in fresh coconut milk seasoned with herbs and spices served with pounded plantains and traditional cassava bread with a side of white rice. Taking second place was Blue Water Grill with Sweet corn Tamalito with tempura garlic butter lobster with a seaweed salad and Truck Stop rounded up the third spot with a Lobster Tostada with chilled poached lobster tail, spiced black bean purée and a house secret habanero sauce.

In the drinks category, Estel’s dine by Sea took home the grand prize with their ‘Cherry Mojito.’
