Great news on the health front for Ambergris Caye! The Ambergris Hope Clinic is gearing up for a major comeback, and this time, it’s reopening as a full-fledged hospital after some serious upgrades.
Dr. Daniel Gonzalez’s vision of a top-notch healthcare hub for San Pedro is finally taking shape, and it’s set to officially open its doors and start operations in February 2024. The CGH medical company, a proud Belizean enterprise, has taken over the reins, bringing in a stellar lineup of doctors to lead the charge.
Dr. Danny will be at the clinic up until the end of February 2024, ensuring a seamless transition before he takes a well-deserved leave of absence. The new management is on a mission to turn Ambergris Hope into a healthcare powerhouse, promising cutting-edge technology and compassionate care to elevate the overall healthcare experience in Ambergris Caye.
Even though the construction dust is still settling, the hospital is already offering services with a general practitioner, pediatrician, and radiologist available daily. Gynecologist/Obstetrician Dra. Tania Pilarte is on deck every Monday and Tuesday, and a complete range of laboratory services is up and running through the emergency area while the renovations continue. “Our newly established facility is designed with a vision to revolutionize the way healthcare is delivered in San Pedro, ensuring that every patient receives the highest quality of care in a comforting and modern environment.”
But that’s not all—get ready for an influx of specialists, including gynecologists, urologists, pediatricians, internists, and laparoscopic surgeons. The hospital aims to be a one-stop-shop for the island, eliminating the need for residents to travel abroad or to Chetumal and Merida for medical needs.
“We believe the island has been waiting for some time for this and it’s finally here. We are excited to serve the people of San Pedro and for them to know that there’s no need to travel abroad or to Chetumal and Merida. We can do it here.” commented a representative of the hospital
Ambergris Hope Hospital is bringing a host of essential services to the island, including 24-hour emergency care, a pharmacy, on-demand overnight hospital admissions for observation and personalized patient care, and a comprehensive suite of radiology services, including digital X-Rays and Ultrasound. In its second phase of expansion the hospital will provide the first CT Scan on the island, including an operating theater and hemodialysis.
