Island residents have been hearing them hover over Ambergris Caye and even coming over town and flying very close over some buildings downtown San Pedro. Military helicopters have been spotted zooming by the island over the weekend and some residents are wondering what is going on.
Well, remember that Ambergris Today posted that the Government of Belize and the Government of the United States of America approved a joint Belize Defence Force/U.S. Military training exercise? Well, this is why these choppers are flying in and out of the island. The exercise will continue through this week so there is nothing to be alarmed about; it is just a military exercise. The training events are being held in the Cayo District and San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize.
