The San Pedro AIDS Commission is a very active group on the island that does its best to educate and prevent this epidemic. As part of its ongoing campaigns the SP AIDS Commission held free HIV testing on Sunday, April 18, at the Central Park.
Knowing your status is important and the encouragement of practicing safe sex is vital these days so as to help prevent the spread of this epidemic. A total of 59 persons got tested; one of the best turn outs that the SP AIDS Commission has ever seen.
“I would personally like to congratulate the fundraising committee for the organization of this event,” commented Felix Ayuso of the SP AIDS Commission. “Thanks also to the ‘friends of the AIDS Commission’ who graciously donated towards the food sale. The San Pedro AIDS Commission is extremely happy with the support of the community and we feel that we are moving ahead in trying to win the battle against this epidemic.”
Anyone wanting to join this group of volunteers can call Felix Ayuso at 663-9922 or get a hold of any of the other members. The San Pedro AIDS Commission meets the first Wednesday of the month!
