Lobster Fest: The One Weekend I Wish I Had a Bigger Stomach

There are very few events on Ambergris Caye that can make your stomach growl before you’ve even made it to the venue, but San Pedro’s Lobster Fest does exactly that. Every year I tell myself I’m going to pace myself, sample a few dishes, and call it a day. Then I walk into the festival.

The smell of lobster sizzling on the grill hits me first. Then there’s garlic butter melting over fresh tails, savory sauces bubbling away, and chefs putting the finishing touches on dishes that look too good to pass up. Within minutes, my plan goes right out the window. I honestly wish I had the budget and, more importantly, the stomach size to try everything on the menu at San Pedro’s Lobster Fest 2026.

One of the things I love most about this festival is seeing just how creative our restaurants become. Lobster isn’t just grilled and served with butter anymore. It’s wrapped into fresh sushi rolls, stuffed into tacos with rich, flavorful sauces, folded into crispy fritters, transformed into lobster hot dogs, and this year I even came across a booth serving lobster ice cream. Yes… lobster ice cream! Whether you’re brave enough to try it or not, you have to admire the creativity.

Lobster Fest Celebrates Island Talent

That’s what makes Lobster Fest so much more than a food festival. It’s a celebration of our chefs, our restaurants, and the incredible talent we have on this island. Every booth is trying to outdo the next, not only with flavor but with presentation, originality, and passion. You can tell they genuinely enjoy creating something special for locals and visitors alike. Everyone does an amazing job.

For us who live here, Lobster Fest is something we look forward to every year. It fills the streets with energy during the slow season, brings the community together, and reminds us why San Pedro has earned such a reputation as a culinary destination. For visitors, it’s an unforgettable experience that showcases the island at its most vibrant.

The lobster season may only last a few months, but this festival packs all that excitement into one incredible weekend. Between the food, music, laughter, and the smell of fresh lobster floating through the air, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the atmosphere.

Now, if someone could invent a way for me to sample every single lobster dish without my wallet or my stomach protesting, I’d happily volunteer to do it. Lobster Fest is over but lobster season runs until February next year, so there is ample time to experience delicious lobster dishes throughout the island. I did not try the lobster ice cream but did enjoy an amazing lobster flan at Elvi’s Kitchen earlier during their Lobster Crawl Event.
