San Pedro Mayor Wally Nunez Works Beyond the Call of Duty

He no longer works as a pilot for local airline Tropic Air, but this weekend, Ambergris Today discovered that San Pedro Mayor, Gualberto “Wally” Nuñez, still takes time to fly but for a very special reason. Last night, on Sunday, October 10, 2021, just before 9p.m., Mayor Wally piloted an aircraft that transported a suspected COVID-19 patient to Belize City so she could receive emergency care for her serious health conditions. Residents of Ambergris Caye, wished Mayor Wally a safe flight as a post on social media captured him minutes before his flight; he was wearing protective clothing to take all precautionary means of safety.

You see, this is not the first time that Mayor Wally does this. We understand that he has been volunteering during his off hours as Mayor of San Pedro Town to transport patients in need of emergency health care. No longer a commercial pilot, Wally still retains his pilot’s license and takes to the skies whenever he is needed to assist his fellow islanders. He receives calls at wee hours of the night and never backs down from volunteering his services to his community.

Wally is known for his big heart, kind ways and serviceable persona and we all thank him for being such a noble person. Going beyond his call of duty as Mayor of San Pedro Town, his actions speak wonders of our island Mayor. Thank you Wally.
