Taiwan Scholarship Program 2013

2013 TAIWAN’S SCHOLARSHIP BRIEFING – BELIZE CITY, BELIZE — January 8, 2013

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is pleased to announce that on January 23rd, 2013 the Embassy will host a 2013 Scholarship Briefing at 10:30AM at the Chateau Caribbean Hotel, Belize City. The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) offers two scholarships to Belizeans every year:

1) Taiwan Scholarship Program 2013: allows Belizeans to attend undergraduate or graduate program of their choice at universities in Taiwan starting from academic year 2013 (commencing in September 2013). A Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP), for one extra year will be included to improve the recipients’ language abilities.  

Scholarship recipients will be provided with a round trip economy class airfare, and a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately US$1000) to cover the costs of tuition, board and lodging, books and medical insurance. The selected applicants will be considered based on their qualifications and being able to successfully be accepted by a University in Taiwan.

2) Taiwan ICDF (International Cooperation and Development Fund) Scholarship Program 2013: offering 27 programs at undergraduate or graduate levels for enrollment at 17 universities in Taiwan, starting from academic year 2013 (commencing in September 2013).

Scholarship recipients will be provided with a round trip economic class plane tickets, housing, tuition fee, credit fees, insurance, and a monthly allowance which varies for different study programs. The selected applicants will be recommended based on qualifications, for consideration by the universities in Taiwan.

The ICDF Scholarships was first offered to Belizeans in 2002 and the Taiwan Scholarship in 2004. Since then a total of 206 from Belize have been accepted for scholarships to study in Taiwan. By 2012, most of these graduates currently hold positions in government and public institutions such as hospitals and schools, as well as in the private sector. Currently there are still about 100 Belizean students pursuing their degree programs in Taiwan in various fields such as public health, nursing, agriculture, business administration, engineering and information and communication technology, etc.
