On Saturday, May 7, 2011, local artist Melody Sanchez Wolfe of Belizean Melody Art Gallery held an event in honor of Mother’s Day at the Phoenix Resort called Mothers in Art. The art exhibit was featured at Red Ginger’s courtyard with paintings from a wide spectrum of talented local female artists which included: Carrie O’Farrell, Greta Leslie, Jessica Lopez, Rose Escalante, Sophie Forman Lisbey, Tanya Samolia, Melody Sanchez Wolfe and Perlita Zapata (Ambergris Today).
Mothers in Art also featured a special appearance by Brandi the Mermaid, as she added some color to the evening with her beautiful personality. There were also amazing tours given by many intelligent and clever little girls who volunteered to help out on the excellent evening.
The event was excellent indeed as many persons left with a great gift in hand, but also with a huge smile. Belizean Melody also contributed proceeds from the art sales towards the Mama Vilma Home.
It was a successful evening of art, wine and smiles as everybody is anxious for more art exhibits from Belizean Melody. Melody Wolfe told Ambergris Today that she has two more art exhibits coming in the near future and that she has also been invited to exhibit her work at the art show of the upcoming Toledo Cacao Festival held in southern Belize from May 21 to 23.
