Sailing Club Introduces New Dinghies

The San Pedro Sailing Club revealed the island’s very own Optimist fleet (small sailing boats) this past weekend, Sunday, June 12, on the beach at Caribbean Villas. The San Pedro Sailing Club, in coordination with the Belize Sailing Association, invited all the children of San Pedro to attend the event and register to become members of the club.

The overall goal of the SPSC is to offer free sailing lessons to any child interested in learning and this event was intended to introduce children (and adults!) to sailing and to foster their interest.

At the event, the students were able to see firsthand the boats and witness a number of demonstration races. Also and more importantly they were able to register to give the Sailing Club the logistics for them to complete the initial phases of the training program.

Besides the demonstration sailing races, attendants of the beach party enjoyed Hobie Cat races, parasailing, corn hole games, giant Jenga, raffles with great prizes, live music and lots to eat and drink.

Any help in getting a plea out for funds would be greatly appreciated. To enquire, please call Andy Milner at 632-4101 or Forrest Jones at 610-4550.
