Viscous rumors started circulating this morning about the death of Belize’s First Lady, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, wife of the Prime Minister of Belize Hon. Dean Barrow. A press release from the Government Press Office, this morning, May 31, 2012, confirmed that Mrs. Barrow remains in the Intensive Care Unit at a Miami hospital receiving treatment for complications with her heart and fluid in her lungs.
She is showing signs of improvement and is strengthening and it is expected that Mrs. Barrow will be transferred from the Intensive Care Unit to a regular hospital room in the next couple days. Prime Minister Dean Barrow remains by her side in Miami and is scheduled to return to Belize over the weekend.
The press release stated that the Prime Minister and his wife thank everyone for the continued prayers and support. Minister of Tourism and Area Representative of Belize Rural South, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., through his Facebook page, asks for everybody to join him in prayer for our beloved Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, the Prime Minister Hon. Dean Barrow and family.
“I hope they can find all the strength, love and support our country has for them during this time. On behalf of myself and my ministry we pray for a speedy recovery and send lots of love,” commented Hon. Heredia.
All Belizeans are being invited to a special prayer service for Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow that will be held today Thursday, May 31, at the historic St. John Cathedral in Belize City. The main celebrant will be the Bishop of the Anglican diocese Rt. Rev. Phillip Wright. The special prayer service starts at 6p.m. Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
