Two young active San Pedranos got together and with the help of friends and family members organized a summer swimming camp for children between the ages of 9 and 12. The camp was mostly intended to teach children how to swim in open water relays and how to prepare and train for such events.
The camp ran for a week from Monday, July 2 to Saturday, July 7, 2012 and was held at the beach front of the San Pedro Holiday Hotel. Eric Donis and Joe Melgar, with the help of their friends Gian Rivero, Javier Williams, Megan Longsworth and Christopher Melgar, hosted a group of 30 children and had them swimming and having fun.
At the end of the week’s event the children were divided into three different age groups and male and female teams which competed in a friendly swim race. Below are the results of the friendly race:
