Tropic Air Increases Flights to San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Tropic Air announced on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, that it will be increasing its non-stop service between Belize City (International) and San Pedro Sula, Honduras from three (3) to five (5) times a week effective November 4th, 2012. This is a direct result of the increasing demand and the support that our customers have given to the service (launched earlier this year).

Starting November 4th, Tropic Air will serve the route on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Not only will these new frequencies allow for more options for our passengers, but it will also allow for an increase in trade and business related activities between the two countries.

“When we inaugurated our San Pedro Sula service earlier this year, we promised the people of Belize and Honduras to add service as we saw the route grow” said John Greif III, President of Tropic Air. “Our passengers have responded and supported us, so it was a natural fit to add more service days…..we hope that soon it might even be daily .”

The BTIA hosts Country Presentation and Media Awareness Campaign in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

While Tropic Air is increasing flights to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the Belize Tourism Industry Association is proud to report that it hosted a very successful Country Presentation and Media Awareness Campaign at the Hilton Princess in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Thursday, July 19, 2012; the event was well attended by media, sales and marketing representatives, tour operators, agents and companies, as well as members of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

The day started with the Executive Director of the BTIA – Efren Perez, giving a short description of what was to be expected at the event and with a video presentation highlighting Belize and its rich history, the many activities available to visitors on land, air and sea and the various attractions scattered across the country. At the videos conclusion, the invited guests were then treated to a brunch and used this opportunity to interact with each other and members of our Belizean contingent. Brief presentations were made throughout this time by member resorts/ hotels and tour operators who “sold” their respective business and the benefits of promoting our country as a vacation/ travel destination within their own. In closing, Mr. Perez thanked all presenters and participants for their time and attention and promised to retain and improve the ties between both Belize and Honduras and their respective tourism sectors.

Friday 20th through Sunday 22nd saw the BTIA, Tropic Air, Robert’s Grove and Splash Dive Center, teaming up at the City Mall in San Pedro Sula to further promote Belize and various businesses in the tourism industry. Visitors got to interact with our group to learn more about travelling to Belize, interesting and unique places to visit and the multitude of activities available throughout the Jewel. They also got to see videos of cultural presentations, mayan ruins, carnival, wildlife and our barrier reef to name a few.

It was surprising to know that many booth-goers had no idea that Belize was such an amazing country to visit and knew very little about all the many wonders available to them at very reasonable prices. Whether it is going rafting or cave-tubing through one of our many enchanted caves, going diving at the magnificent Blue-Hole or even horse-back riding through a scenic jungle trail, the opportunities for excitement and splendor are endless.

The BTIA would like to take this opportunity to thank all members and affiliates who participated: Robert’s Grove, Splash Dive Center, Parrot Cove Lodge, Ka’ana Boutique Resort, Tropic Air, Caye Caulker Plaza Hotel, Sea Dreams Hotel, Princess Hotel & Casino and the BTB, your participation and dedication to the development and growth of the tourism industry is greatly appreciated.
