Eight Crime Stoppers information signs have gone up at key points around San Pedro Town, especially at entry points on the island on Monday, May 13, 2013. On hand to do the work were Town Councilor in charge of Policing, Wally Nuñez, along with fellow Councilor Gabriel Nuñez, Town Council Forman Freddie Gonzalez and San Pedro Superintendent of Police, Luis Casteaños.
Crime Stoppers Belize donated the signs to the San Pedro Town Council in hopes that they will help deter the crime situation by encouraging residents to use the Crime Stoppers Belize service and reporting when crime is happening. Crime Stoppers also provides an anonymous service of identifying criminals and providing valuable information to help capture criminals before any incident occurs.
Neighborhood watch groups from around the island have been working closely with Crime Stoppers Belize and urge all residents to join their respective neighborhood watch groups and share the word on Crime Stoppers Belize service. Only by working closely with each other and the police we can all fight crime.
The signs were placed at island entry points which include aross from Tropic Air and Maya Island Air airport terminals and one each at the San Pedro/Belize Express and Caye Caulker Water Taxi Terminals, two at the Villas at Banyan Bay intersection and two on the north end of the Sir Barry Bowen Bridge in the Boca del Rio Area.
