Mayor Daniel Guerrero of San Pedro returned to his Alma Mater as Distinguished Patron for the graduating Class of 2013 of San Pedro Jr. College. This high honor for SPJC was also accentuated by 13 of the 18 graduates being in honor roll, the best record in its 12 years of graduations. This prestigious event took place on Saturday, July 6, at the R. Angel Nuñez Auditorium.
“After graduating ten years ago in Corozal Town, I have finally made another one of my dreams come true,” remarked Miss. Heidy Maribel Monterroso, who offered the vote of thanks. She was referring to the fact that thanks to San Pedro Jr. College that offers this evening course, she was able to attend sixth form and earn an Associate’s Degree.
It is to be noted that more than half of the graduates fall under this category. The Salutatorian for the graduation ceremony was Mrs. Roxette Mischa Muñoz who elaborated on the theme chosen by the Class – ‘If You Believe, Everything You Dream Will Come True’. Honor student and Valedictorian Imar Rafael Reyes challenged the graduates to keep on believing in themselves, to dream high and focus on the efforts towards achieving those dreams. Reyes was applauded heartily for achieving an average GPA of 3.90.

The formalities of the evening included speeches by distinguished personalities like Mrs. Miriam Codd Pott who was the guest speaker and Mr. Gustavo Ellis, Dean of San Pedro Jr. College. Mr. Jose Milo Paz, Chairman of SPJC Board of Directors addressed the gathering and Mayor Danny Guerrero distributed diplomas as San Pedro’s First Lady Mrs. Sara Gonzalez Guerrero honored the students by placing their tassels on the right side of the caps.
Awards to outstanding and honor roll graduates were presented by Professors Miss Neima Gomez and Miss Nashely Vargas. Musical director was Mr. Alez Noralez who led the graduates/choir in their rendition of’ “The World is Yours.”
