Ministry of Health receives donation of Antimicrobial Pillows

Minister of Health, Hon. Pablo Marin was on hand at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, for the symbolic delivery of approximately 300 pillows donated by the Belize Dry Cleaners for hospitals across the country.

The antimicrobial treated pillows measure 20” X 26” and are filled with 8oz garneted polyester. The pillows have soft polypropylene stitching and they are fluid proof, wipe-able and flame resistant. The pillows will be delivered over the next couple days to five hospitals: Karl
Heusner Memorial Hospital, Western Regional Hospital, Northern Regional Hospital, San Ignacio Community Hospital and Corozal Community Hospital.

During the brief handing over, Minister Marin commented that “the donation of these pillows will help in our efforts to provide the best quality of care for the public, especially when they are required to stay in a bed for treatment or recovery purposes.” The pillows were handed over by the Managing Director of Belize Dry Cleaners, Mr. Lascelle Arnold. He mentioned that they felt the need to donate the premium quality pillows because “they will undoubtedly be beneficial for the purposes of infection control.”

The Ministry of Health appreciates the donation and we are committed to maintaining a working relationship with the business community to partner in the development of our health system.
