The San Pedro AIDS Commission is one of the most active groups on the island and since its inception they have been working really hard to creating more awareness about HIV/AIDS on the island.
The San Pedro Aids Commission would like to present the public its financial report from January to December 2013. Below is a detailed report about their expenditures which totaled to $8,020.73. The group is once again pleased to make public its most recent details on how they are spending the funds raised and distributing assistance to those in need.
San Pedro Aids Commission Expenses as of January 1st to December 31st, 2013:
*Donations to AIDS Patients – $4,499.83 – majority of the funds raised goes towards monetary donations for HIV positive patients. Stipends are delivered to these patients depending on their needs and specific cases.
*Medical Expenses (Vitamins, etc) – $1,219.90 – Although the Government of Belize does provide free antiretroviral treatment for HIV/AIDS patients in the country, there is still more that patients need to keep up with their health. The SP AIDS Commission provides patients with additional vitamins and medication.
*Information Campaign Expenses – $1,511.00 – Education is vital and thus the group spends in the making of fliers, videos and other means of getting the public informed.
*Office Expense – $890.00
** Overall expenses for the year – $8,020.73
“I would like to thank the entire San Pedro community for their support,” stated Mr. Felix Ayuso. “Thank you to all residents and businesses that support us. And a special thank you to all members for your arduous work on all our fundraising events.”
The San Pedro AIDS Commission has been an active group for over 12 years and is made up of volunteers from all walks of life. The SP AIDS Commission works with people infected and/or affected by HIV. The group is a non-profit organization and survive solely through the support of the community and the dues paid by members.
Mr. Ayuso also announced that coming again very soon is the San Pedro AIDS Commission participation in the Carnaval Comparsas in March and is hoping to once again receive the generous support from the public.
