Raquel Badillo to Represent Belize at Miss World Pageant 2014

Miss World Belize Ltd. introduces Miss Raquel Alejandra Badillo of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, Belize, who was designated as the new titleholder for Miss World Belize 2014. She will join more than 120 other contestants at Miss World 2014 that will be 64th edition of The Miss World Pageant to be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at ExCeL’s ICC Auditorium in London, England.

Miss Badillo is a beautiful 21-year-old model who is 5ft 7in tall. She was the valedictorian at San Pedro High School and is presently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Decision Sciences. Miss Badillo was born in Belize City and raised in San Pedro Town; she fluently speaks English and Spanish. Her first pageant was at the age of 4-years-old.

Raquel’s hobbies include dancing, paddle boarding, reading, swimming, new technology, and fashion. She also has special talents as a skilled dancer with 9 years experience, specializing in salsa dance. Miss Badillo describes herself as “a strong and determined woman always striving for a better version of herself”. She loves the outdoors, jogging along the beach and keeping up with the latest trends and beauty tips.

Miss Raquel Badillo is expected to arrive in London on November 20, 2014, along with over 120 other Delegates from around the world. Ms. Julia Morley, Chairwoman of Miss World Organization coined the phrase ‘Beauty with A Purpose’ as her vision for a platform for young women to use their talents to help those less fortunate than themselves. Officially launched in 1972 ‘Beauty with A Purpose’ has had a significant impact in improving the life of the disadvantage in over 100 countries with funds raised exceeding $1Bil US.

As one of the highlights of Miss World Organization, a Charity Gala Dinner will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014. The evening will include a segment called World Gifts in which all Miss World Contestants are expected to donate a special gift from their home country. The gifts will be auctioned at the fundraiser in aid of Beauty with A Purpose and The Coram Charity located in the United Kingdom.

Last year Miss World Belize 2013, Idolly Saldivar, presented her gift that was a hand crafted sculpture of Ziricote, considered a rare wood and made in the shape of “the thinking man”. In this Gala fundraiser event, 128 countries had participated and Belize won the second highest bid of the day, earning $22 million Rupiah (Indonesian Currency). This was one of the highest recognition Miss World Belize received during the entire Miss World 2013 events.
