Belize telecommunications company SMART also presented a check for $5,000 to the Belize Red Cross this week, on Monday, August 22. SMART thanked all those who made this a reality by contributing under the Smart Cares Program.

SMART activated the program to facilitate customers who wished to join in the relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Earl. Customers had the opportunity to text to CARE (2273) and pledge a donation which was then deducted from their credit. SMART matched all the donations that customers made.

The Belize Red Cross expressed gratitude for the contribution and advised that the funds will be used to assist those affected in the rural areas of the country.
