The Belize Cancer Society of California paid the San Pedro Cancer Society a visit on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. The Belize Cancer Society of California is a group in the United States led by President Arlette Pilgrim and they hold fundraising, awareness and outreach for Belizeans from California.
Throughout the years Arlette and her group have helped the San Pedro Cancer Society by securing wigs, prosthetic breasts and information for cancer patients. This trip, Arlette surprised the SP Cancer Society with a “smokalyzer” which can detect the amount of carbon monoxide in people’s breath.
The donation also included bras that can fit a prosthetic breast in it along with lymphedema sleeves for patient who have had mastectomies. Also there were comfy shoes for patients to let them know there’s people thinking of them and willing to help them throughout their battle with cancer.
Patients can contact the San Pedro Cancer Society to see if they have any materials they need or to order anything the society may not have. They are all free of cost and all items are secured by the Belize Cancer Society of California.
