Monday, June 4, 2018 — The Belize Volleyball Association (BVA) is proud to announce that Belize will be the host country for the upcoming XX Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship. The major seven-day international volleyball event will be held in Belize City from August 4 – 10, 2018, and is a regional ranking and qualification event to the continental (NORCECA) championship that has further ranking and qualifications to FIVB world championships. All Central American volleyball federations (Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama) are expected to participate in this AFECAVOL event.
This is one of the largest and most prominent international volleyball tournaments to be held in Belize, and BVA invites all Belizeans and visitors to mark their calendars for this major sport event. Female volleyball has developed into a very fast and powerful sport, and Belize has been competing at a high level internationally for years. Team Belize is comprised of our best and most experienced senior female athletes. These women are strong, prepared, fiercely patriotic, and have every intention of defending Belize on our home turf. The team has been training diligently together since last year, with the assistance of our Cuban coaches, and will need the support of all Belizeans to back them at each match.
Match information, press releases, and photos will be shared with local as well as international media over the weeks leading up to the event. Updates will also be posted on the local, regional, continental, and international governing bodies’ websites and social media. All matches will be streamed live online for international fans. An event of this magnitude can only be made possible with the support of our many sponsors from the business community and the Government of Belize, as well as our many volunteers, fans and supporters. Logistics are still being finalized, so more information will be shared on an ongoing basis. BVA encourages involvement and looks forward to the support of all volleyball and sports enthusiasts, as well as the general public, to ensure that we can be prepared to welcome our Central American delegates. Team Belize is ready to demonstrate genuine Belizean hospitality, as well as showcase a high level of athleticism, and the true Belizean spirit of competition and patriotism.
