Amidst an atmosphere of jubilation, Mayor Gualberto Wally Nunez and his team of six Councilors are set to return to office, marking a momentous win in the San Pedro 2024 Municipal Elections. Even before the official vote counts were announced, the People’s United Party (PUP) had already established a commanding lead across all ballot boxes, setting the stage for an overwhelming victory.
Expressing his gratitude and confidence in their triumph, Mayor Wally Nunez stated, “We have victory, and we will continue to work hard for all of San Pedro; thank you for your unwavering support.” The enthusiasm was contagious, reflecting the collective joy of a community that rallied behind the PUP.
In San Pedro, it was nothing short of a landslide victory for the PUP, mirroring similar successes in municipalities across the country, except for San Ignacio/Santa Elena where the UDP emerged victorious. Mayor Wally and his six councilors effortlessly clinched success, buoyed by the unwavering support of a community grateful for the PUP’s dedicated efforts towards the development of Ambergris Caye.
Among the major accomplishments proudly listed under the San Pedro PUP‘s tenure are the construction of a new two-lane concrete bridge at Boca del Rio, the opening of 30 new streets, the paving of four miles of road in residential areas, the installation of over 120 new street solar lights, and significant upgrades to Central and Boca del Rio Parks. The list goes on to include the renovation of Ambergris Stadium, the introduction of new cultural events, the development of a food bank program, and assistance for the elderly through free food baskets.
The tireless efforts to improve the Traffic Department, the launch of a new website, and numerous other initiatives collectively contributed to the party’s resounding victory. As Mayor Wally Nunez and his team prepare to return to office, they do so with a strong mandate and a track record of achievements that have undoubtedly endeared them to the hearts of the San Pedro community. The celebration continues, marking not just a political triumph but a shared victory for progress and development in Ambergris Caye.
