The Miss Universe Belize Foundation Ltd. has announced that it no longer holds the Miss Universe Belize franchise, ending a chapter that many believe helped elevate the standard of pageantry in the country over the past several years. In a press release issued on June 19, 2026, the Foundation revealed that the Miss Universe Organization has granted the Belize franchise to an organization based in El Salvador. According to the Foundation, the decision comes after they informed Miss Universe following the events of 2025 that they wished to take a brief pause from the competition and recenter their efforts, with plans to return in 2027. However, the international organization ultimately chose to award the franchise elsewhere.

The Foundation expressed disappointment with the outcome, noting that the decision was especially difficult considering the years of dedication invested by sponsors, delegates, queens, volunteers, and supporters who worked together to strengthen the pageant’s reputation in Belize.

“This outcome is deeply disheartening given the dedication and hard work of the Foundation, our sponsors, delegates, queens, volunteers, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to elevate pageantry in Belize,” the statement said.

Over the years, the organization focused on providing contestants with mentorship, training, resources, and opportunities while maintaining transparency in the management of sponsorship and organizational funds. The Foundation also emphasized its commitment to supporting Belizean entrepreneurs, creatives, and small businesses through its events and productions.

Miss Universe Belize Reflects on Accomplishments

The organization reflected proudly on the accomplishments of its delegates and titleholders, many of whom have gone on to become role models, community leaders, and ambassadors for Belize both locally and internationally.

Despite losing the franchise, the Foundation says its commitment to empowering Belizean women and promoting ethical business practices remains unchanged.

“While this chapter may be changing, our commitment to excellence, ethical business practices, and the empowerment of Belizean women remains unwavering,” the release stated.

The Foundation also announced that reigning Miss Universe Belize 2025, Isabella Zabaneh, remains available for appearances, community engagements, brand partnerships, and promotional opportunities.

While details about the new franchise holder have not yet been publicly announced, the development marks a significant shift for one of Belize’s most recognized national pageants. It also raises questions among pageant enthusiasts about what the future of Miss Universe Belize will look like under foreign management and how local participation and representation may be affected moving forward.

For now, the Miss Universe Belize Foundation says it remains grateful for the support it has received throughout the years and proud of the legacy it helped build. “The legacy we have built together belongs to Belize, and for that we are forever grateful,” the Foundation concluded.
