Mauricio Islas was one of the first co-hosts for the Miss Costa Maya International Pageant. He shared the stage with local hostess Wilema Alamilla at the time when he was very popular in the T.V. series Mil por Hora. Today television viewers can still see Mauricio Islas as he is acting in the telenovela Cielo Rojo. In similar fashion Sanpedranos can still enjoy other television celebrities, singers and actors such as, Los Ilegales, Denise Plummer, Cumbia Kings, Niurka, Laura Leon, Maribel Guardia, Kristian Castro, Pablo Montero, Ricardo Montaner, Sergio Blas, Angel y Kris to name a few. San Pedro has indeed had its due share of celebrities simply because of Costa Maya Festival.
