Maya Island Air held a soft opening of its new terminal building (Terminal 2) in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
The new elegant building is the latest addition to the Maya Island Air which boasts more ramp/parking space for the aircrafts, new cargo section, spacious waiting area at the ground level and a luxurious waiting area on the first floor as well as a waiting lounge verandah and a fully stocked bar.
The upstairs lounge/waiting area boasts four luxurious chandeliers, comfortable seating, an amazing view of the runway to marvel at the aircrafts landing and taking off. On display inside the building are two painting replicas by local Belizean artist Carolyn Carr of Banana Bank Lodge in Belmopan. One is called “Fleshstones” – depicting a male senior Maya hand painting on pottery, while the other one is called “Time Warp” – depicting an old Maya lady weaving a hammock.
Maya Island Air staff officially start operating from the new terminal building as of Thursday, November 15, 2018. Congratulations to management and staff for this great addition to the company and improvements to their facilities on Ambergris Caye. The event was held in collaboration with Caribbean Culture and Lifestyle as they released their fourth issue of their magazine.
