A Letter to Formally Date a Girl
By Angel Nuñez Very often when I address young boys and girls on my book “25 Years Ago”, they ask me questions that remind me of other topics. This week the first form Students at San Pedro High asked about courting and romance. I even had to sing a song that formed part of a serenade years ago in San Pedro. Today I recall how a young lover went about requesting the privilege to date a young lady and become her fiancee. Here is the letter written by a young lover to his future (hopeful) father-in-law.

Happy New Year at Marino’s Roof Top
By Angel Nuñez The New Year’s Eve Celebration has undergone many changes throughout the years. I will take you back to the 1960’s when Marino’s Club Roof Top was the Number 1 place to celebrate. Of course the dances have been the most featured attractions for any New Year’s party as they are today.
Why did San Pedro need Township?
By Angel Nuñez Let me take you back to our old village days and the conditions that prompted our village leaders to yearn for Township status. From the early 1900’s San Pedro was governed under the old ‘Alcalde System’. The villagers simply appointed a person whom they could trust to be the ‘alcalde’ who worked along with the other members as the village council.
Romantic Days of the Past
By Angel Nuñez A friend of mine posted this verse of as song on Facebook and all of her friends tended to agree with the idea that men have lost the romanticism that was common in the past. I agree with the song too and also believe that women too have lost their romanticism. Here is the verse in Spanish.
San Pedro Pioneers Celi Nunez and John Greif
By Angel Nuñez When Neil Armstrong made his first step on the moon he said that it was a small step for him but a giant step for mankind. I know I can safely say that when John Greif II made is first landing in the lagoon of San Pedro right behind the Plaza de San Pedro, it was a small landing for John, but a giant landing for San Pedro. This was indeed what initiated the tourism industry for San Pedro and for that matter for Belize as a country.

Always a United San Pedro
By Angel Nuñez During the last telethon that Mel Paz and I were conducting for Baby Elijah Eiley, we complimented the people of San Pedro for their ever generosity, cooperation and very caring spirit for each other. It was then that I remembered that this spirit of unity goes way back to old days or twenty five years ago.

Miss San Pedro Pageant Without Bathing Suits
By Angel Nuñez Was it different? You bet! Oh yes, we had a grand celebration, but we did it in our own wonderful way. Twenty five years ago we did not have a lot of flags to fly around the town and at our homes. So what we did was to decorate the place by going into the bush and cutting small palm trees which were placed around the town to add more greenery and to make the place look joyful and in the celebration mood.

Buried Treasures In The Village of San Pedro
By Angel Nuñez I have written about buried treasures along the shores of Ambergris Caye that the pirates hid in the 18th and 19th century. However this time I will reveal about buried treasures right in the town proper, in the very yards of the villagers about 150 years ago.
