Dying Arts Of Fishermen -Heart-Shaped Fish Wire Traps #2
By Angel Nuñez Besides the art of knitting gill nets, another dying art is that of the heart-shaped fish wire traps constructed along the coastline. In fact, San Pedro has gone from about 25 wire traps to about four or five at the most. For about one thousand dollars, you can build yourself a fish trap, which may yield three to four thousand dollars during one season. This all depends on the location, how hard you work your trap and of course your "good luck".

Old Timer or Modern Sanpedrano? #16
By Angel Nuñez YOU KNOW YOU ARE AN OLD TIMER SANPEDRANO In the past it used to be said that if you see someone walking barefooted, you could guarantee he was a Sanpedrano. Well while that might be true, one could argue that people from Sarteneja and perhaps some other village also did the same. But here are some other factors that guaranteed that you were not only a Sanpedrano, but an old timer as well.

Prostitution Ninety Years Ago In San Pedro For One Shilling!
By Angel Nuñez I have read Danny Vasquez’s book, The Little World of Danny Vasquez, three times and every time I do, I enjoy it with a different perspective. This particular topic on prostitution is very revealing and enjoyable. Be reminded that Danny Vasquez was a Sanpedrano born in 1902 and he lived through these experiences.

The Very First Ones (Pt. 2)
By Angel Nuñez Being first is quite a fete. It is nice to know that you were first in your class, first to set a record like the High School boys did this year by winning the National Secondary Softball Championship. It is not quite pleasant to be the first one to go to jail for whatever reason, or commit a serious crime or to be the first one to suffer a terrible accident.
The Very First in San Pedro
By Angel Nuñez Being first is quite a fete. It is nice to know that you were first in your class, first to set a record like Eric Donis is attempting to do, first to build something, first to achieve something, or even first to have the honors like kissing the queen's hands or stealing the first kiss from a young lady.
The Days Without A Town Council
By Angel Nuñez Twenty NINE years ago there was no Town Board OR Town Council in San Pedro. In fact, the town board is a new baby, only in existence since 1984. In the past the affairs of the village were looked at by a Village Council.
