Town Council’s Beach Restoration/Street Project
Our beautiful beaches on “La Isla Bonita” have been through a lot; whether its Mother Nature sending us some sort of tropical depression, storm or hurricane to batter or lovely coastline or the residents that are constantly riding up and down the beach, adding to the deteriorating conditions. The San Pedro Town Council believes it’s time to repair our beautiful beach for all of us to enjoy - tourist, locals and especially the children. FAB Ball a Success
Friends of the Humane Society (FOTHS) and SAGA Thrilled at Success of FAB Ball Despite being delayed because of Tropical Storm Alex, the FAB Ball turned out to be a truly fabulous event, raising money for SAGA Humane Society and giving everyone a night to remember. Approximately $5,000 was raised on the evening, all of which will help SAGA to care for the animals of San Pedro.

Marco Gonzalez Maya Site Workshop and Exhibition
The Marco Gonzalez Maya Site at the south end of Ambergris Caye is currently the host to 25 students since Wednesday, June 23. Ten students are from the University of London, England, and 15 students are from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, USA. One of the students from the University of London, Ms. Nadia Glassup is presently studying archaeology and as part of her thesis for obtaining her Master’s Degree; she is doing field work here in the Marco Gonzalez Maya Site.

Fire Scare in downtown San Pedro
Quick action by the fire department and volunteers prevented a possible fire disaster in downtown San Pedro at a building that houses four businesses and one residence on Friday, June 25. The fire started at Full Chevere Internet Cafe located at ground level of the building; building is located on the corner of Pescador Drive and Tarpon Street, across of the R.C Primary School.

The Miss Lobster Festival Pageant in Caye Caulker was about the only event that was not canceled between the two neighboring islands of La Isla Bonita and La Isla Cariñosa as Tropical Storm Alex made its way through Belize over the weekend. And the island residents of Caye Caulker got to celebrate the crowning of their new Lobster Fest Queen just before the weather went from bad to worse. Stephanie Arce was crowned the new Miss Lobster Fest.

Discovery Expeditions – Sea Trek Operation at Mexico Rocks has created quite a controversy on the island as many business owners, tour operators/tour guides and residents are discontent with the concept involved in the operation. On Wednesday, June 16, upon request, Mr. David Gegg of Discovery Expeditions held a public forum at the San Pedro Lions’ Den to address the public’s concern over the Sea Trek operation at Mexico Rocks.

Lobster Galore!
It was no doubt that, just by looking at the large crowd that showed up at Saturday’s Block Party, Lobster Fest was a huge success. A very large gathering of locals and tourists flooded Central Park on Saturday, June 19, at the culmination of week-long Lobster Fest celebrations; a festival that has been deemed by Frommer’s Guide Books as one of the “300 Unmissable Events and Festivals Around the World”.
A Show of Hands 3 – Art Exhibition
Aristophanes (Greek Athenian Dramatist) once said - “Let each man exercise the art he knows” and that is exactly what these three artists – Sylvin Forman, Sophie Lisbey Forman and James Jopson have been doing; they are exercising the art they know. On Friday, June 18, they held an Art Exhibition entitled “A Show of Hands 3” at the Spindrift Hotel.
